Our Independent Bench

BoulevardAstromingl exists for one reason: more households and small offices want their files back from the cloud, and most buying advice either drowns them in benchmarks or quietly sells them the most expensive box. We write for people who want private storage that works, and who would rather understand their setup than outsource it.

How We Evaluate

We judge each enclosure on software maturity and update history, security defaults, backup tooling, realistic household performance (photo indexing, streaming, file copies over the network) and the effort it takes to keep running. We read the manufacturers' release notes and security advisories, cross-check specifications against official datasheets, and update rankings when firmware or pricing shifts meaningfully.

Independence

We are not affiliated with Synology, QNAP, UGREEN, TerraMaster, Western Digital, Seagate or any other company we mention. We do not accept payment for placement, and manufacturers do not review our copy before publication. If that ever changes, we will say so clearly on the page concerned.
